Soil stabilization of problematic soils plays a crucial role in construction projects and is an unavoidable aspect of civil engineering. The goal of soil stabilization is to improve shear strength, increase plasticity, enhance stability, raise bearing capacity, increase the safety factor against slope failure, and reduce settlement. This study investigates the effect of adding Graphene Oxide (GO) to cement-stabilized sand at 7- and 28-day curing periods through uniaxial compression and direct shear tests under loads of 50, 100, and 150 kPa. Three different GO content ratios (0.4%, 0.8%, and 1.2% by weight of cement) and one cement mix (15% by weight of dry soil) were used in the 7- and 28-day curing periods. The results from the uniaxial compressive strength tests revealed that adding GO to cement-stabilized sand improved compressive strength and increased the modulus of elasticity (E50). Furthermore, the direct shear test results indicated that the addition of GO enhanced shear strength parameters. The uniaxial test results showed that for the cement-stabilized soil with 15% cement and different GO contents, a specific range of values was observed, with the samples containing 1.2% GO exhibiting the highest stress-strain curve. Additionally, the optimal percentage of GO stabilizer in the direct shear test was found to be between 1-1.2% by weight of cement.
