In this study, the potential for land subsidence in the Varamin Plain was investigated using Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) and Analytical Hierachy Process (AHP) methods. For this purpose, seven effective parameters: aquifer media, land use, pumping, recharge, aquifer thickness, distance from fault, and groundwater table decline were investigated, and a plain land subsidence potential map with an index between 79 and 179 was obtained by combining these parameters in the ArcGIS environment. Then, in order to optimize and adapt further, the weight of seven layers affecting subsidence was prepared using the AHP method (index between 85.4 and 191.2), and a final land subsidence potential map was prepared. The potential for land subsidence in the Varamin Plain was obtained by combining the layers in the ArcGIS environment during the years (1400-1399) and an InSAR satellite map was used to validate this method. The validation results obtained from the present study show that the correlation of the combining SAW and AHP method is higher than the SAW method alone. The correlation between the potential for subsidence and the subsidence obtained from the satellite map for the SAW and AHP methods is 0.53 and 0.65, respectively. The Result of this study show that the central, northwestern, and southeastern regions of the plain are prone to land subsidence and the necessary management programs should be implemented to control land subsidence and groundwater resource management in these areas.
